This Privacy Policy explains how ScanLeap ("ScanLeap," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the ScanLeap mobile application ("App"), available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

We collect very little information and want you to understand exactly what information is collected and how it is used.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Summary

• ScanLeap does not operate its own backend server.
• On the Google Play and Apple App Store builds, Firebase, operated by Google, is the only backend infrastructure used by the App.
• Sign-in is provided differently depending on where you downloaded the App: Google Sign-In (Google Play build), Sign in with Apple (Apple App Store build), or Huawei ID (Huawei AppGallery build). Guest mode is available on all builds.
• The Huawei AppGallery build of ScanLeap does not include Google Mobile Services (GMS). On this build, sign-in is available via Huawei ID instead of Google Sign-In, ads (if shown) are served through Huawei Ads Kit instead of Google AdMob, and the Google Drive backup and Google ML Kit object detection features are not included.
• We only collect information necessary for authentication.
• Your scanned documents remain on your device.
• Document scanning, cropping, and enhancement occur locally on your device.
• An optional Google Drive backup feature is available on the Google Play and Apple App Store builds, letting you back up scans to your own Google Drive account.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Google Sign-In (Google Play build)

If you choose to sign in using Google, Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In may provide:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your profile picture (if available)
• A Firebase-generated unique account identifier

This information is used only to identify your account and maintain access across sessions.

2.2 Sign in with Apple (Apple App Store build)

If you download ScanLeap from the Apple App Store, Google Sign-In is not offered; instead, you may choose to sign in using Sign in with Apple. Firebase Authentication together with Sign in with Apple may provide:

• Your name (if you choose to share it)
• Your email address, or a private Apple relay email address if you choose to hide your email
• A Firebase-generated unique account identifier

This information is used only to identify your account and maintain access across sessions, in the same way as Google Sign-In on the Google Play build.

2.3 Huawei ID Sign-In (Huawei AppGallery build)

The Huawei AppGallery build of ScanLeap does not include Google Mobile Services (GMS). On this build, you may instead sign in using your Huawei ID via Huawei Identity Kit (HMS Account Kit), which may provide:

• Your name
• Your email address (if authorized)
• A Huawei-generated unique account identifier

This information is used only to identify your account and maintain access across sessions, in the same way as Google Sign-In on other versions of the App.

2.4 Guest Mode

If you choose "Continue as Guest," no personal information is collected. On the Google Play and Apple App Store builds, Firebase creates an anonymous identifier that is not linked to your identity. On the Huawei AppGallery build, an equivalent anonymous device identifier is used instead, which is likewise not linked to your identity.

2.5 Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect, store, upload, or access your scanned documents or images.
• Camera, gallery, and storage permissions are used only to provide scanning and file management functionality on your device.
• The contents of files accessed through these permissions are not transmitted to ScanLeap.

2.6 Optional Google Drive Backup (Google Play and Apple App Store builds only)

ScanLeap includes an optional Google Drive backup feature, available on the Google Play and Apple App Store builds. This feature depends on Google Mobile Services and is not available on the Huawei AppGallery build of ScanLeap.

When enabled by you:

• The App will request Google's drive.file permission.
• This permission allows ScanLeap to access only files it creates.
• The App cannot browse, modify, or delete other files in your Drive.
• Files are uploaded directly from your device to your Google Drive account.
• ScanLeap does not receive or store copies of uploaded files.
• Access may be revoked at any time through your Google Account settings.

3. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used only to:

• Authenticate users
• Maintain user sessions
• Separate user accounts and guest sessions
• Provide customer support when requested

We do not sell personal information.

4. Advertising

On the Google Play and Apple App Store builds, ScanLeap displays advertisements through Google AdMob. On the Huawei AppGallery build, which does not include Google Mobile Services (GMS), advertisements are instead served through Huawei Ads Kit.

Google (or, on the Huawei AppGallery build, Huawei) may collect information including:

• Advertising identifiers
• IP address and approximate location
• Device and application information
• Advertisement interaction data

This information is collected and processed by Google, or by Huawei on the AppGallery build, each under its own privacy policies.

6. Data Storage and Security

On the Google Play and Apple App Store builds, account information managed through Firebase Authentication is stored on Google's infrastructure. On the Huawei AppGallery build, account information managed through Huawei ID sign-in is stored on Huawei's infrastructure.

ScanLeap does not maintain its own server or database and does not store copies of scanned documents outside your device.

No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

7. Data Retention and Your Choices

• Signed-in users: Account information remains while the account exists.
• Guest users: Data remains associated only with the device installation.
• Account deletion requests may be submitted using developer contact information listed on the app store page.
• Google Play and Apple App Store builds only: Google Drive permissions may be revoked at any time from your Google Account settings.

8. Children's Privacy

ScanLeap is not directed toward children under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. International Data Transfers

On the Google Play and Apple App Store builds, because Firebase infrastructure is operated globally by Google, account information may be processed or stored outside your country. Google applies safeguards described in its own privacy and data processing policies.

On the Huawei AppGallery build, Huawei ID and Huawei Ads Kit data is processed by Huawei under Huawei's own privacy and data protection policies, including applicable data localization requirements for users in the Chinese mainland.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new features, legal requirements, or operational changes.

Updates will be reflected by changing the Effective Date at the top of this page.
